Envoy to attend Nigerian president’s inauguration

Special Envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Peng Qinghua will attend Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration ceremony in the capital Abuja on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning announced. The 71-year-old Tinubu won February’s presidential election with 37 percent of the votes. Ties between China and Nigeria have developed smoothly since diplomatic ties were established in 1971. Nigeria is China’s second-largest export market in Africa and its thirdlargest trade partner in the continent.
